Antimony trioxide is used as an accelerator (catalyst) in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyester, plastic, rubber, paint, fibers, composite chemicals, etc. It is used in the battery industry to improve the properties and efficiency of batteries. In the glass industry, Sb2O3 is used to remove bubbles in optical glasses, to discolor some special glasses, and as a stabilizing agent in the production of emerald green glasses. Antimony trioxide is used as a matting agent in porcelain and ceramic glazes. In the brick making industry, antimony trioxide is used to lighten the color of burnt clay. Antimony trioxide has many uses for making fireproof materials together with other halogen compounds in cases such as children’s clothes, toys, airplanes, building materials, car seat covers.
